To create an effective career plan, one must first be able to answer the question "Who am I?" With a clear picture of ourselves, we can then consider how we are seen by others. This whole-self view helps us make career decisions that make sense for us. And, by learning how to successfully manage our career, we can better help others manage their careers. When people are in jobs that match their talents and energy, they are more productive and their performance increases.
This Personal and Career Development session will provide an understanding of one's natural talents and skills as well as one's career values. Edgar Schein's Career Anchor model will highlight a useful way to consider types of jobs and careers that fit. Exploring one's attitude and ability to be resilient, as well as considering how one is seen by others will provide additional clarity and direction. Individual exercises and group discussion will help guide each individual in creating a personal career plan.
